Jpeg embeded in RAW files
Hi
Have just found out that when I take pictures in RAW on my D70 there is a “jpeg” file embedded in that RAW file. You can set the camera to take RAW + jpeg, but this uses at least 20-30% more space on the CF card. Using the Extractor software, you can shoot in RAW and extract the jpeg’s to a dedicated folder and view all before opening the RAWS. These jpegs are not thumbnails but full size pics and can be PS’d in their own right. Maybe you knew this already, but for those that didn’t the program can be downloaded from the web free of charge. The software is called preview extractor it was found when discussing shutter count coded into a RAW header in another thread here. This applies only to Nikon. Link below.
