Winzip alternative
I have winzip and the 45 days has run out so it won't now open files is there an alternative.

Hi Saphire,
Don't have any ideas about winzip, but you can download 'Cute PDF Writer' (cutepdf.com). I don't think that it compresses photos, but although it's basic, it is very useful for general documents. I also think that some versions of windows have a built-in zipper. Try right clicking on a document and see if the menu says something like 'send to compressed folder'. Mike |
Thanks Birdsnapper its not the zipping I am having the problems with I very rarely zip things up anyway. I have always used the free version of winzip to unzip files but they must have put a feature in the newer versions so you have to buy after the 45 days. It means I have no way of unzipping any plug-ins or any zipped files I download.:(

Have you tried Enzip at http://www.bcuc.ac.uk/faculties__sch...ads/enzip.aspx
I used to use that on my old PC after I had mistakenly deleted Winzip. Mick |
Thanks Mick I have downloaded it and it works great. I felt completely lost without the unzip function.

Blimey that was quick, glad to be able to help.

I bought a winzip licence back in 2000. Lost the registration details when my c drive became toast, but a quick email to winzip and I had a licence key back within a day. Didn't feel the need to upgrade from version 9, despite the various enticements, though.

Even when winzips trial period is over, if you click on continue evaluation or likewise tab, you would be able to continue it indefinitely. Winzip is very linear about trial period and don't want your money unless you are fully satisfied. I wish them success with their generous policy.

Sassan, Mine stopped working when I reached the end of the 40 day trial period. Pressing continue evaluation never came up. I am now using Enzip which is free.
