Centering Histogrm Peaks
3 Attachment(s)
Both my Canon S3 and SX 60 have 5 1/16 inch Vertical Bars in their Histogram Boxes.
My idea here is to Center my Histogram Peaks in the Center of the Histogram Boxes as I take the image - not setting the Histogram ahead of taking the image. This can be done using my Cam EV and Flash EV Settings as well as a change in ISO - if that is needed. All images here are done on Program Mode - ISO Auto on an S3. This person image has a Cam EV of Plus 2/3 and Flash EV of "0" and Histogram Peaks in Bars 2 and 3. The first color strip image has the exact same settings as the person image, Histogram Peak in Bar 4. The second color strip image has a setting of Flash EV at Plus 1/3 and Cam EV at "0", Histogram Peak in Bar 4. |
Hello dear Norm
Right now I noticed these shots and watched them , Ann's portrait is very well adjusted , taken and done in all aspects , its exposure , lighting , even light distribution , bright natural colors , skin color tone and sharpness all are wonderful my friend. Next shots are good scale/tools for your proper EV , thanks and good luck |
This is one of - if not the - best method for doing images that I have seen. I love being able to use the Cam or Flash E V as my main source of light of my images. With the R G B Value Numbers as a double check - one cannot go wrong - unless one works too fast and did not check something as one worked on his/her image. I love the method.

Dear friend mo;
My kind and humble thanks for your kind and humble words. Centering the Histogram this way - albeit a bit slow in some cases - making a few exposures to make the centering accurate - is still one of the best method I have seen for image accuracy. I love being able to use either the Cam E V or Flash E V - as the primary source of light. I really like Canon for making their Histogram Box this way. |
