As the man in the video himself says in the posts below the film clip, it's not his own idea but I think it does work. I've seen a similar tip in a photo mag years ago (with a loop at the bottom instead of the washer so that you can slip your foot through).

will certainly give it a whirl, but find the main problem up on them there hills is wind, so maybe 2 pieces of string and a tent peg?
