HELP! JPEG problems
I returned from my honeymoon 2 years ago and was disappointed to find that around 100 or so of my photo's have been corrupted. They were taken on a casio exilim and saved onto a sandisk memory card. The strange thing is that you could view them on the camera, and you can view them in preview format, ie the thumbnail at the bottom of the screen when using windows filmstrip or thumbnail view but when you load the photo, upto the bottom half is sometimes just a grey strip, if it loads at all.
This seems very wierd, looking back the camera did flash up something at the time of taking the photo's but I didn't know what it meant then. Since then, the memory card has been binned but I was wondering if it's possible to recover these files in any way? Any help much appreciated. Thanks Pete |
I would investigate image rescue software, Lexar's version can be downloaded FREE using the below link....
http://store.lexar.com/imagerescue3/ There are no guarantee's it will work, but its worth a try. |

and it will still work! |
I had something similar though it appears to have come down to heat related which caused the corruption, and the recovery software couldn't fix it. That's the only thing about Flash media, is that it's going to be harder to extract data off if they fail. I've never used imagerescue3 but generally I backup all my photos at the end of every day onto my laptop to a) have a backup if needed and b) to clear out my camera's memory card for the next day.
