Sony Laptop with stuck shift key

I have a Sony Laptop I use in the evenings and more importantly to download and copy photographs from compact flash cards at the end of a days photography when away from home. The next time to need the computer will be in six weeks but the keyboard has a stuck shift key. Shift is performed rapidly as indicated when I shut down the computer by 'Hibernate' and 'Stand by' rapidly changing several times per second. I fear if I return the computer for repair I will take longer than six weeks to return.

Does anyone know anywhere that will repair it quickly or had any experience of this problem to suggest a temporary fix.

Try a vacum cleaner with the furniture brush, right up close with the laptop turned upside down. Often works on desktop keyboards, not so sure about a laptop, but worth trying

Thanks, I tried that and it seems to be okay. I actually removed to keytops from each shift key and part of the key mechanism and used a high power vacuum cleaner (Dyson DC15) with crevice tool. Amazingly I pulled half our cat worth of fur from in between the keys but nothing large to jam a key. The keys seemed clean when disassembled.

I must add our cat fights the laptop for my attention and warm lap in the evenings, its not uncommon for her to lie on the keyboard to gain attention:rolleyes:
