December 2006 competition theme

Our December competition shall be a freestyle competition where any photo is allowed, please upload your best photos to the competition entries category in the gallery.

The competition will be open until December 31st. At the end of December entries will go into a poll for voting for two weeks when a winner will be announced and transferred into the competition winners category. At the end of this year all competition winners will be entered into a poll for the photo of the year contest, held in January 2007.

One entry per member, photo must have been taken by a member but there is no time restriction on when the photo was taken.

In the event of an overwhelming number of entries Moderators and Admin will decide on a final short list, in this event any Moderators or Admin who entered the competition shall remove their own entry.

Come along guys and gals. There's no need to be shy. With an open theme, anything goes. We seem to be a bit thin on entries at the moment. With no limits of what you can post (within the boundaries of taste and decency), have a go with a subject you've not tried before. Failing that, why not look through your archives and pick out a photo you've always loved but never had a competition theme that it seemed to fit. Now is your chance to post it.

unfortunately my best and fav shots are bird shots, but next week I will dig around and find something which is non-birding and reasonable.
I know one can post bird images on this site, but I do prefer to keep them for BF.

I've been busy with a couple of Christmas Bird Counts but I'll give the competion some thought now that we're between counts. I've got some fox pictures in the camera that I really thought looked good.

Hi Stephen, I’ve just arrived here from the BirdForum.net, which I have only joined recently, too. I’d like to enter the December competition, but I can’t find any information about image size or how much one is allowed to work on the picture (cropping, levels, contrast, brightness, …). What information will I be asked for when uploading? Is the EXIF Information automatically added from the image or manually? Thanks, Robert.

Firstly welcome to WPF, Robert.

Our December competition is open to any photo but our file limits still apply. We have a limit of 300kB for JPEG's but no size restriction on the photo but I suggest no larger than 1024px along the longest side so they are no too large for most people's monitors. This size should require only modest JPEG compression and will retain its original quality.

Uploading is easily achieved in the gallery, click 'upload photos' to the left little information is required as our software find the EXIF for display

Any problems, please let me know.

Thanks for entering.
