Any wizards around?

I have on several occasions, 'burned' photos onto discs so that I can view them on tv. I have two DVD players at home and one in the caravan. All my attempts have been successful!

However! number one Daughter has just returned from a trip to Paris, having taken my camera. She took 120 pictures whilst there and I have them on the computer. I also put them onto a DVD/RW disc - verified and saved in jpeg format; and tested it on the tv in the kitchen - it worked a treat. Now! Daughter has taken it to her young man's family to show and it wouldn't work. Nor would it work on her all singing, all dancing, fancy posh PC at work. I have experienced this problem before when giving discs to other people.

What have I done wrong? Does the type of disc make any difference and can anyone tell me what to do next please?

Afternoon, dear. Get the other folks, as well as yourself(!), to check what DVD format their PCs or players support! Not all read DVD-R or DVD+R. Could also be that a codec (coder-decoder) is missing on said PC.
Just a thought.

When you burned the disc, did you "finalise" it? This is an option that needs setting which finishes off the writing process. Some players won't read a disc that hasn't been finalised.

It's probably because you used a rewritable disk, some CD/DVD players don't recognise them. Burn the photo's again as JPEG's onto a permanent CD/DVD.

On some systems you find a tick box to "read the disc on this PC only" or "read on any PC". Make sure you tick the latter one.

I think advise given above is right to the point.
Not every format (CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, and then, unfinished vs finalized CD/DVD while burring) is compatible with every player at home. Especial attention is for older players that are very fussy for one media or format and not another.
With computers especially again old ones/older OSs, you need a decoder to open up the DVDs.

You have propbably done nothing wrong, however more details are required. eg type of disc, +R or -R, what software you are using. Just remember DVD burning is not 100%. I have just seen that Sassan has said similar. In general older machines tend to prefer -R or -RW discs.
