January 2007 Competition Theme - 'Blue'
 
Our January competition shall be themed 'Blue', please upload your best photos to the competition entries category in the gallery.

The competition will be open until Janaury 31st. At the end of January entries will go into a poll for voting for two weeks when a winner will be announced and transferred into the competition winners category. At the end of this year all competition winners will be entered into a poll for the photo of the year contest, held in January 2008.

One entry per member, photo must have been taken by a member but there is no time restriction on when the photo was taken.

In the event of an overwhelming number of entries Moderators and Admin will decide on a final short list, in this event any Moderators or Admin who entered the competition shall remove their own entry.

To help inspire I found the following defination of 'Blue' on thr web:-

Blue

  • amobarbital sodium: the sodium salt of amobarbital that is used as a barbiturate; used as a sedative and a hypnotic
  • blue(a): morally rigorous and strict; "blue laws"; "the puritan work ethic"; "puritanic distaste for alcohol"; "she was anything but puritanical in her behavior"
  • causing dejection; "a blue day"; "the dark days of the war"; "a week of rainy depressing weather"; "a disconsolate winter landscape"; "the first dismal dispiriting days of November"; "a dark gloomy day"; "grim rainy weather"

Correct Ollie, I understand there is/was a U.K. boy band named 'Blue' :p The definition is from Google and the full listing shown below. I thought it may be a little long so it was truncated in the original post. Please be aware that this definition is for ideas only and any photo that can be interpreted as 'Blue' shall be accepted in the competition.

I guess I will be relaxing my own rules here,I feel some beautiful blue plumage will be just the ticket.
thanks ,Stephen,for the info re the colour blue,very interesting.Saxaphone blues,one of my fav music sounds.But we do not have any jazz groups in this area,pity,that would make a great pic,almost would adhere to Chris's(Daedal) b/w theme.Smoky club etc.

Saw the title of this month's comp and thought I'd bound to have got this one sorted out....a brill shot I took whilst diving in the Red sea....looking back up the guide line at fellow divers whilst resurfacing from the Thistlegorm wreck........then realised I'd shot it in black and white! LOL:rolleyes:
