Photoshop help.
 

I have Photoshop 7 and I was just wondering how you get the background in grayscale but leaving the subject in colour. If anyone could help me out I would be greatly thankful.

Thankyou for such a quick response. :D

An easy way is to:

1- Use lasso tool to select what area you like to have it in color (You have at least 2 good choices in lasso, Regular or Magnet. Try each to see the difference).

2- Select > Inverse. Or [Shift + Ctrl + I].

3- Image > Adjustments > Hue / Saturation [Ctrl + U]. Then reduce the "Saturation" to minus 100 (Moving the level fully to the left).

You are done and have fun.

Alternativly use a Hue and Saturation Adjustment layer

Layer> adjustment layer>Hue & Sat> move the saturation slider all the way to the left and ok it.

Now using the paintbrush and black paint start painting the colour back in where you want it, if you make a mistake change to white paint to take the colour back out.

When finished Layer > flatten image :)
