Flash with Reflector

Flash with Reflector

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was wondering what your ideas are this.

If I take a flash image from one side of the subject at 45 degrees to the subject - pointing the flash toward the vanishing point on the horizon line. Then - when a reflector is used -fairly close to the cam and subject - aim said reflector about 45 degrees to the opposite vanishing point on the horizon line.

In this way I get a flat triangle pattern between the two light sources. My idea - is to get as even a light pattern as possible from both sources by skimming light off the subject and reflector onto the subject into the shadow area.

I have a P and S cam with no opportunity to hook up multiple flash units. Also, I like to see where my reflected light goes and how much I receive.

Actually, you do. You can attach an optical slave to one flash and the other, attached to the camera, will trigger it. Just make sure your on-camera flash isn't putting out pre-flashes or make sure your optical slave is specifically for digital cameras. Slaves are available from Wein. You can also buy a small flash with a built-in slave made by Sunpak, Vivitar, Metz, Phoenix, etc.
