Mamiya 7
 

I have just acquired a Mamiya 7 medium format range-finder camera. Has anyone got any experience or tips?

A fabulous lightweight package. Not alot else to touch it in it's field. I real alternative to carrying 35mm kit, and benefiting from the massive 6x7 neg......the lenses are amazing, but the bodies don't take too kindly to lack of servicing.
My recommendation is to take the lens off and send the body away for servicing....in some circles they built up an unfortunate reputation for self destructing. Maybe partly due to the way the light weight (for a 6x7) camera encouraged the photographer to use it, and partly due to poor materials and internal build quality letting it down.
A great camera for landscaping and documentary work.
Such a camera is good for the health tho, as it can encourage you to go out for walks!
I beleive there is/was a framework available for macro work to minimise the risks associated with parallax error. (similar looking to the Nikon/Calypso divers cameras)

I hope we will see some of the results from it on here?

I certainly did my research before buying it!
The camera looks absolutely immaculate and came from a well known black and white photographer. I would doubt it requires servicing just yet, but I will put a roll of film through it as soon as weather allows.

As soon as I find the right scanner to accompany it, I will show some results.
