need info on ex tubes
 

:) I have herd from a cople of sorsess that ussing ex tubes with telephoto lensess and a x2 is better than using 2 x2`s and a 300 mill lens on a cannon 350d. I dont have much money to my name and I love sitting in bird hides and taking nature shots. The other thing is I am never satisfide with some of the shots that i do get there ether shook or out of focas slightly.....

Extension tubes are to enable the lens to focus closer but often preclude distance focusing. Tele converters magnify the image so with a 2x converter your 300mm lens becomes a 600mm lens but at the cost of two stops of light and probably the ability to auto focus. Converters also degrade the quality of the main lens to a certain extent, the 2x more than the 1.4, so stacking converters is generally not recommended. If you are getting camera shake, up the shutter speed increasing the ISO if necessary. The longer the focal length of the lens the more critical careful focusing is. Hope this helps.

as it is an old lens i have a 1.6 to add on as well but as i said a cople of people told me that you can use ex tubes as well as the other 2 to get things that much closer i was wondering if it will work?

If you are getting this sort of problem with what you have already, then adding t-cons or extension tubes, or both, will not make things any better. I suggest you practice to improve your technique before adding more to your lens stacking experiments as these additions will invariably make things worse, not better.

If you want to get closer as in macro yes you can combine tele converter and extension tube but remember you will lose a lot of light and good technique is imperative. I do agree with Yelvertoft.

Well, when it comes to sitting in bird hides and getting blurred shots I can safely say I am an expert at that too! There are many experts on the forum who could no doubt help you so do ask some specific technique questions and someone will help.
