What is this lens exactly?
 

I won a lens on ebay for just 99p (it was listed in the wrong place), so hence I got it very, very cheap, as very little people had seen it and I was the only bidder!

Anyway, on the description it was called a Kenko Zoom Close Up Lens, but the photo of the lens was a Nikor 80-200mm? :confused: It also had Zoom Nikkor C on it.

Any ideas? I'm, totally confused and just looking forward to getting it, to see what it is!

What I suspect you have bought is one of these. It is like a filter that you put on the front of the lens. It allows you to focus nearer to the subject and thus get a larger image. A cheap form of macro. The expensive version give fair results but the cheap ones give poor results are are only useful as a hand held magnifying glass.

It looks like the have shown the close-up lens attached.

Lets hope they forget to take it off the Nikkor :rolleyes:

I got the 'Kenko' lens today and it is for Macro photography and it is excellent! :)

I bet postage was more than 99p though

always a good feeling if you spot something in a listing that makes it a real bargain.
One of the classic bargains at the moment is for those Sony DSLR users...... The same fitting Minolta AF 50mm lenses usually go for around the £120+ mark when well listed. However, do a search for some of the older Minolta bodies eg 5000 or 7000 being sold as outfits with other lenses, and you might be pleasantly suprised to get a 50mm in the lot....and usually pay much less. I've seen some outfits go for less than £30.
ebay is a weird and wonderful place

Same is true for Pentax stuff, though to a lesser extent these days. You can still find a fast 50 on an unpopular body going as a kit for a song. People seem to have caught on a bit now though and will often split body/lens into two lots. Keep looking and you'll turn up a bargain eventually.
