CS4 Problem

2 Attachment(s)
Can anyone help, I have done something in cs4 and can't get it to work properly now. I did a ctrl, shift, alt to get it back to the default settings while restarting.
Now when I open a photo its fine for a few seconds then the photo suddenly goes dull and lifeless but when I go to move the window the photo jumps back to normal, as soon as I release the window it goes blank for a while before coming back dull and lifeless again as if I have pressed a before and after.

The first photo is what it looks like normal the second is a screenshot of how it changes.

Commiserations but I an afraid I cannot help there Christine.
Best I can do is a net rummage to see if I can find anyone else who has suffered a similar experience.

Christine,

Just to show I have started my rummage. Have you thought of posting this in the Adobe Forum ?

Thanks Don, I have tried everything that is posted on the adobe website and it works for the one photo but as soon as I load a new one it starts doing it again.
I have checked all the profiles and they seem to match and I don't get the usual box telling me about a mismatch in profiles so I am at a loss.
The only thing I can think of thats changed is I loaded a new updated graphics driver yesterday morning but that doesn't change anything in CS, Adobe bridge hasn't changed and it uses the same files to load.
I may have to reload CS and start again

Christine,

I am trawling through the Adobe Forum and assuming you are still windows then I am in the Photoshop Windows section of that.

I cannot link to specific pages so you will have to follow this trail.
Wierd forum so duplicate each tab as you go and open links in the duplicate tab or on go back you will be at page 1 again. :(

Page14 has a query on pictures not displaying right ( poster - alaskangirl81 )

Click the link in the D Fosse reply, read and then go to the bottom of that page and click the link by D Fosse on that page.

All a bit techie but I will try to link that last page. Should work as its a Tech Note rather than forum query.

That worked. Hope it helps.

Got that, thanks I will have a lot of reading to do I think. Its weird when the photos open they are fine then after a few seconds it changes from the mode of rgb to cmyk.

Hi Christine, you say you were resetting the default settings with a restart and CTRL ALT SHIFT. Can I suggest you look at those settings/preferences and look particularly at any 64 bit settings that may be ON - The CTRL ALT SHIFT has been causing some reset problems especially with Illustrator CS4. You may have to go through the settings manually and restore them the way you want - hope this helps.

Thanks Andy, I gave up trying all different profile settings just in case I had accidentally changed something. I ended doing a complete uninstall and deleting the directories before reinstalling. As far as I can tell looking in the preferences nothing has changed but it is working fine again now.
