What is it about your D60 that makes you dissatisfied with it, and will the D90 provide that?

Hello Alex
I wouldnt say Im dissatified with it as its a lovely camera but I just want to better it. The iso capabilities are a big plus on the d90 and the extra mega pixels, the longer battery time, the live view options, the hd video,11 point focus system etc etc etc

It's a very subtle evolution. Does the expense justify all that? I personally don't think you'd be gaining much. AF is great on the D60, extra megapixels makes little difference unless you are making massive enlargements. Live View is a little gimmicky, not very useful. Do you really want to do HD video?

So are you basically saying the D90 is not alot better than the D60 ?

Yes, especially for the cost involved.

Know nothing about Nikon cameras but I find Live View on my DSLR very useful for still life or macro. ie tripod work. At two years old the D90 is positively geriatric in DSLR terms but remember the initial price of it's replacement will be higher and you will have to wait a while for the price to settle. Whenever you buy a new digital camera there is always a new one in the wings.

Will it improve your pictures? That's what matters at the end of the day. I have a feeling that upgrading from a good dSLR to a better dSLR won't have such a great effect. Your decision, of course.

IMHO as usual

Alex

It will give him pleasure over and above technical improvements which can not be quantified. Enjoy the new camera when you get it Joe.
