Anyone shoot tethered?

Ever had the problem where the canon software keeps closing mid shoot and you dont get any pictures?

Tried it a couple of times with a Nikon and a laptop and never had any problems. But I know people who have and it's usually down to the computer RAM - You need a lot to make it work. You need a good USB or Firewire cable. You also need to set the camera menu to PTP not Mass Storage. Thanks Mate, I have a good USB cable and 8gb of RAM on my new laptop so can't be those things, I will have a good read through the Linkys tar..

My laptop only has a 1.6Mhz processor & 1Gb ram and it works fine with my 40D shooting raw and automaticly importing them into Lightroom via a watched folder. I did have to download the latest version od Canon DPP & EOS utility though to get it to work when I changed from my 20D

I've shot tethered with both a 40D and a 50D no problems at all... just plug in the cable and open up the software (no need to alter camera settings with a Canon). I've not tried it with the 5DmkII and am just heading out but I'll have a go this evening and see how it goes.
