Camera function speed.

Hey guys.

I have a Nikon D5000, and I love it.
But I want to be able to do something on it, that I'm not sure how to do.

It kinda takes a while to focus, is there any way I could put it into a point'n'shoot mode for when Im not taking artsy photos? Because it takes at least 5 seconds to focus.

Any way to change this to minimize time between button press and shoot?

Thanks.

Unless you're trying to use it in low light conditions the focus should be much quicker than that. Sounds to me as if the camera is faulty.

I have to agree, there is no way any DSLR or digital compact for that matter should take anything like that long. You need to get it checked out, I would contact Nikon if it was me or if it is not under warranty then a reputable repair firm.
