Extra EXIF info
On the EXIF info of my shots I have suddenly got an extra line of info at the bottom, which reads 'Jpeg process : progressive'.
My work flow has not changed (RAW > Tiff > jpeg) so I am not sure why this info has suddenly appeared. Any thoughts? |
I think progressive refers to the way it was saved using JPEG. Using Photoshop there are three options, Baseline 'standard', baseline 'optimised' and progressive. If progressive is chosen then a number of scans can be selected, i always use progressive with 5 scans. The difference is slightly lower filesize with quality maintained. On a sample photo the difference between baseline 'standard' and progressive seems to be around 10%.

Thanks for that Stephen. What I cannot make out is why it has suddenly appeared because as far as I know I have never changed any of these settings in photoshop.
