New Camera

Yesterday, I bit the bullet and bought a Canon EOS 20D. Much as I like my Nikon Coolpix 4500 there are some things that it doesn't do well. The new camera came with a 18/55 mm zoom lens and I bought a additional zoom, an 70/300 mm. Now all I have to do is learn how to use them. The first thing will probally be to experiment using RAW.

Congrats on your new toy!

Enjoy using and learning, I am amazed at how much there is to know!!

Congratulations! I am not familiar with coolpix cameras but I am sure you are impressed with DSLR quality and handling.

Could I ask why you have turned your back on Nikon? I would have thought a D200 would have been the obvious choice!

Unfortunately there isn't a Nikon dealer in the Province. I had a choice between the 20D, a Canon Rebel and a Pentax (it was cheapest of the three).
No other DSLR's to be found closer than about 3 hours away.

Snowy welcome to the Canon camp :) I was starting to feel out numbered - LOL. 20D may not be the latest but it's still a good camera. Ideal time to buy with the 30D coming out. I'll wait for the next model before upgrading.

I'm currently in the process of relocating to Cumbria and we've commented on the lower number of discount retail outlets there in comparison to where we are presently. I couldn't cope with 3 hour trip to get extra choice - thank god for ebay I say!

Enjoy your 20d.

How do you think us Pentax users feel? Paranoid? Who say's I'm paranoid? Who's been talking about me?

Thanks Christine - I'm looking forward to it - Northants has some excellent opportunities for wildlife photo's but decent landscapes are harder to find.
