Old Model

Stephen Fox, I thought that you might find this model of interest. My dad worked for de Haviland back around 1940 and this was made by a co-worker. Part of this model was said to have been made from a piece of the first Hurricane to crash during the war.
Regretably the screw threads that held the three pieces together are stripped and the prop boss is missing. I'd love to at least get it re-assembled but have been reluctant to super glue it. I'm not sure that whether I would replace the original decals or not.

Excellent, it seems these models were in vogue at the time. Stories such as yours make the model even more precious. If I were you I would leave it in three parts if the threads are stripped rather than risk further damage. What is the source if the yellow glow? It might be part of the solution Don Hoey and I were looking for earlier this weekend.

There is a fluorescent light mounted on the wall above and behind the my bench. There is also a window to the right. The yellow comes from the fluoro tube, I believe.

That aeroplane i do not believe was ever built by de Haviland. It is a Boulton Paul Defiant.

Never said that it was, I said that part of it was made from the first hurricane to crash during the WW2.
