It is still possible to find and use an old Hasselblad today. However, they are NOT cheap.

Ffordes Photographic has some Hasselblads and you can buy 120/220 format film. It will cost you about 15...

Digital photography is still photography because those pixels are recording light, and whilst a filter may alter that light, it's still recording light.

Digital art should not be considered photography on a linguistic basis. Photography means recording light as opposed to changing the colour of pixels with no real-world equivalent. Digital art is...

Quite right Yelvertoft--which is why most of my kit is actually not far above the 'prosumer' level. You have grasped the wrong end of the stick slightly; I am not saying that kit matters more than...

Obviously, I'm not saying shoot away like a lunatic--burst mode is certainly no subsitute for thought. But if you have 3 of each shot it helps bring out the best.

Excellent advice...HOWEVER.

I think we must impose a limit between what is original and artistic and what is downright silly. I see thousands of photos of absolutely sod all everywhere now....

OK, I'll try to give you a crash course. Do tell me what camera you have so we can give further guidance.

If you are a beginner put the camera into full auto mode so you don't have too many...

High ISOs are downright inconvenient with film, because you can't change it. I find ISO 400 gives intolerable grain, with ISO 100 being nearly unnoticeable. Besides, if you have ISO 400 loaded in and...

Nowadays I go to a bigger retailer like Currys or PC World to try out new kit--though I usually end up comparing the new digicams to the old stuff-- staff is more knowledgable (usually 1 person who...

That's a tad steep, Olympus OM Zuiko lenses are definitely far cheaper! I find f2.8 is enough for natural light photography.

Yeah, 85 or 100mm is a good focal length to have as these lenses are still fairly compact (in many cases not much bigger than the 50) but offer a closer perspective without being too close. I hear...

Most reviews complain that the AF on the EP-1 is too slow for a camera in that price bracket. I would personally LOVE to use OM lenses on a digicam to get that old silky smooth manual focus...

Yes, the Yashica doesn't fit the posters needs, but the OM cameras do. I just bought a replacement Wein cell and they cost just £5 now. Five quid for a year's use seems like a fair deal to me....

How about f1.4 lenses? I recently acquired the Zuiko 50mm f1.4 for OM-system, reported to be an excellent lens. Do they give an unusably small DoF when wide open?
