As mentioned, Canon lenses use electronic connections, so the aperture would not work. Also the lens to sensor distance is less for Canon cameras, so you cannot even use an adaptor to use the lens...

Naah, enjoy the tripod. A tripod that you use is better than one that is so heavy you leave it at home. You should be fine for wide and normal lenses.
