I'd save the extra money and plumb for the d7000, you will only kick yourself after I'm sure. The extra features are worth every penny IMO.

A d5100 will be a huge improvement and upgrade over the d40. I was in a similar situation a few years back, but I had the d60. I opted for the d90 and still use it today as a back up to my d300.

I thought jessops stocked pretty much all consumer lenses, which is basically what you want. I'm really suprized they don't stock the motorized tammy.

On Flickr, click on groups, then search for what you are interested in, eg "landscape" and it will find groups under that interest. Then you just join the ones you like.

Only heard good things about the 11-16 2.8 tokina, thats my next lens purchase. If thats any help. Also you may want to consider the 11-16 is a f2.8 as apposed to the 12-24's f4.
