Any ideas for DIY diffusers for macro ring flashes?

I can only think of taping diffusing sheet materials but that might be cumbersome if the tape leaves residue behind.

I have just obtained a Lee Filter Foundation Kit to use mainly on my Tokina 12-24mm lens coupled with a Canon 40D.

I now need to get a 77mm thread adaptor to fit the kit to the lens.

Thanks. So far I have seen something that might fit the bill from Manfrotto but I have also spoken to my brother who has engineering experience. If this fails then it is a visit to the engineers.

I have found that since I got my DSLR last year I think carefully with my point and shoot now and get better images than I did before. I have even held a filter in front of it for example.
