Oh, i don't know about that, Don. I use MF for landscapes from time to time and birds ocassionally, for macro quote often, and for 100% of shots with my tilt-shifter (which is MF, obviously). I'm...

Does the D80 not have a sensor cleaner built-in? I thought all the recent releases had a sensor shaker these days. Or have you got some stubborn dirt, Chris?

Like you, I got frustrated with dirt...

Thanks for posting that, Walwyn. It's a real eye-opener. Most of us (some of us?) had a fair idea that this sort of scumbaggery was around on the web, but seeing it all written up in one place like...

Another difference is that, most of the time, fast lenses (say f/2.8 instead of f/5.6) are better quality lenses. There is no law of optics making this so, it's economics. Manufacturers rarely spend...

Oh, I should add my 2p worth of experience with Canon service. Several incidents over the years:

One thing that I have noticed in my trawling of the fora (not this one!) is that there are quite a few Canon owners who are total dipsticks! These turkeys can't be doing the company any good, and 99%...

Sticker shock: Nikkor go ballistic

I'm an all-Canon man these days, with a couple of Canon flashes (580EX II and dual-head macro flash), four Canon cameras (yes, I use all of them), and a pretty fair selection of lenses, from 10-22...

No mistake in the title, yes, you read it right.

I, Tannin, voluntarily and of my own free will, being of (probably) sound mind and no more than usually unsound body, just upgraded my Canon EF...

I cannot imagine that any lens could have better build quality and image quality than the Canon 500/4. It's a safe bet that Nikon are just overcharging. Of course, Nikon's costs will be higher, as...

You might do better to wait until the new Nkon 500/4 VR is available. Yes, it's disgracefully overpriced but when you consider the cost of swapping systems you might come out about even. (And if...

Anyone here ever played with tilt-shift lenses?

I just threw my toys out of the pram and bought a Canon 24mm TS/E. Haven't had a chance to play with it yet, but any advice would be very welcome....
