from the way my GraphicConverter (mac) handles things, RAW is a generic type of file certainly inclusive of NEF, which I tried and possibly others unless a particular manufacturer is being really blood-minded

Maybe less relevent, but Nikon Edit, which is a lesser form of Capture 4 works better on Panasonic files (jpg&tif) from my FZ than it ever did on the E4500 files; possibly more a function of file size expectation.
