I have read that it lacks the AF motor so can only AF with AF-S lenses. It might even be the case that it cannot meter with non AF-S lenses, in which case most people will avoid third party lenses. That must be an incentive to Nikon.

Cunning so & so's are'nt they? Attract newbies to Nikon and then tie them into Nikon lenses. They all do this sort of thing which is why say a Sigma lens has to be rechipped sometimes when a new camera comes out. Might make marketing sense but it annoys me!
