I don't know anything about that camera or how much money might be available but in general terms if you want to really get into photography then eventually get a DSLR (digital single lens reflex). You don't need an expensive one and you may be able to get a good second hand one. The thing is they let you take over control of the whole process so you can both learn and actually get the shot you want rather than what the camera would give you automatically. The quality is potentially higher and there is vast potential for expansion of the system. Don't however fall into the trap that a better camera will make you a better photographer, it's just a better tool.
