Any of the main makes would be fine. You really need to handle a few to get a feel of what you like. Be aware that to get the best out of a DSLR there is a learning curve so learn about the technical stuff like effect of shutter speed, aperture settings and a host of other bits and pieces or all you will have is a glorified P&S which is bulky and heavy.
