Depending on the value of the equipment you need to insure, it may be worth simply extending your home contents insurance to cover it, though you must have it all risks. However some companies have a limit to the value of any single item.

It may be then worth looking into separate equiment insurance, esp if you earn money from your photography. Last year I paid £231. for equipment to the value of £12000

This was through a photo insurance specialist broker in Colchester, called Glover Howe and was significantly cheaper than through the companies advertising in the popular press/magazines.
