I now use photoguard, this is 'all risk' insurance. Cover includes among other situations, equipment in transit, whilst in a parked vehicle (private or public land) accidental damage and theft. Photoguard allow tailored insurance so if you dont want overseas cover then it can be removed from the policy to trim the price. To cover equipment in transit items must be in a hard case but I negotiated transit in one of two lowepro photo rucksacks.
Its always a good idea to shop around but photoguard offer a guarantee that you will not find the same cover at a lower price.
Even though I am insured I still take every precaution such as taking my kit with me when I stop at service stations and other high risk areas.
