I use this set up with 2 vivitar 285's and one nikon SB28 with my Canon camera. The good thing with these triggers is that they don't get fried from the old 285's. (you can pick the 285's up for around £40) The triggers also have a good working distance and no miss fires. I did a test with them and fired 20 with no problem. The only time you have a problem is when the batteries get tired, (a good thing in away as you know its time to change) and then they don't sync all the time.
You don't have to stick with Canon flashes when working with wireless setup by the way.
