I think fanboy attitude of anything gets annoying - Windows/OS X, PS3/Xbox (possibly the worst) even iPhone/Blackberry. I am exactly the same and just appreciate something which works. I used Windows for years and years until it stopped being the right OS for me. I still suggest to most of my family to use Windows because it is the right OS for them, and I'd rather they be happy using Windows than unhappy with an unfamiliar OS X with me jumping up and down because I've added another notch on the Apple bed post.
I'm sure you didn't mean offense, and I know what you wrote, but it seemed as if you were insinuating that people who buy Apple pay "well over the odds" and then feel the need to be obnoxious about it.
Anyway the OP was about the iPad and after all this we both actually have the same conclusion that neither of us will be buying one
