Agree with most of the previous comments, No 2 for me also.
I'm using a 20" Formac Gallery Extreme LCD 1600 X 1200. IMO this is far superior than my daughters 19" Sony Triniton monitor.
I find the biggest problem in setting up an LCD is getting the gamma correct.
For this I use a combination of my graphics card settings + the aforementioned Quick Gamma v2.0.0.3. Also a quick check with

Just followed your link Chris, according to Cambridgecolour my monitor is spot on.
I keep saying I will buy a spyder, but there's always something else takes priority.
