Default Improving your compact for macro

If anyone still has their old slr film camera lenses, and also own a compact digital, that maybe dosnt focus close enough, you could possibly adapt the old with the new.to get some great macro shots.certainly canon powershots and i think nikon coolpix to name but 2 are suitable, for this reverse lens technique, check your cameras manual .in this instance a canon a95 powershot is linked to adapter tube 1,then a ring with a male thread on each side ie 49mm and 52mm 2,these are available on ebay as well as the adapter tube.then your slr lens in this instance a pentax 50mm 3,the advantage is you can link any lens as any connections are defunct, its just a case of the size of the lenses filter thread ie 49mm on this pentax 50mm.cons are vignetting, you will have to use a touch of zoom and loss of light, and you prob cant use cameras macro setting ,but with this set up you can still use auto focus,it takes a little while to get used to,but its quite rewarding the previous micro moth pics were taken with this set up,in the wellcome wagon.all the best Bri.
