I had XFX GE-force 6600gt PCI-e for about 3 years then in packed up on me
![]() GE-force 7600GT PCI-e still no concerns. But you still need at the very least 1GB ram

Unless you're into games or 3D imaging you don't really need a high end graphics card. If digital imaging using Photoshop or similar, plus general office work and web browsing is all you do, then a simple graphics card is sufficient. Having said that, I would go for a fairly fast one with at least 128mb, preferably 256mb or more. These days a more than adequate card for doing any of the above, (plus a bit of low end gaming) can be had for less than £50 from the likes of ATI or NVIDIA! Don't waste your money unless you're loaded, you don't need to.

Hugh,
I agree with nirofo, the cards you are mentioning have extensive 3-D imaging capabilities, these are not used/needed for 2-D graphics applications such as Photoshop. More RAM on the card will help move things along, but you don't need the 3-D capability. |
