We all get the dreaded inspirational block and the question is how do you break it to get the ''juices'' flowing again?

I've often looked to the gallery to make me think. Sometimes I'm feeling a bit frustrated that my photos are lacking in imagination. Then, I'll see something in the gallery that will trigger a memory, or give me an idea that will develop into something else. Looking at the work of others on other fora will often surprise me and make me think about different subjects. I'll then decide "I'll have a go at that" and develop my own shot from it.

I look for a new subject and try to create images of it. It could be a new species of bird, location or just a new technique for photographing an old subject. Its amazing what can happen if you take a boring object and try to make an interesting image with it.
I also have a folder of 'inspirational photographer websites' that I go and look through - most of them are websites where the artist shares their vision, passion and attitude with words, video and images rather than just photo galleries. |

This may be useful for beating the block.

Alain Briot does write an awful lot of thought provoking stuff - generally about the artist rather than artisan side of photography.
His own website with all of his essays: http://www.beautiful-landscape.com/ |
