Just a word of warning if you're planning on upgrading to W10. This applies to people using Nvidia graphics cards.
I've been usin W10 insider program for some time now and all was good. However the latest version 10240 is presenting problems which at the moment there is no way of preventing. Microsoft have altered the drivers for Nvidia which create a problem with Photoshop and possibly Lightroom. With Photoshop the new driver will not allow the photoshop to use the Graphics Processor. On anothet point I'm unable to use Lightroom as I'm unable to open any catalogue, I'm guessing that this is also due to a similar problem regarding drivers. As I have W7 on a seperate drive this has not caused me problems. However be warned http://www.techtimes.com/articles/72...at-to-know.htm Harry |

Peter I forgot to mention, it's possible to get the correct driver from Nvidia which corrects the problem, but unfortunately on the next W10 upgrade the drivers will again cause problems.
With regard to Lightroom the problem can be overcome by selecting 'Run As Administrator' I had the same problem with CS6, but cannot remember how I overcame the problem. Old age is certainly causing me problems these days. Harry |

A good warning - thanks Harry. Shame, I've been looking forward to the download.

Graham. I like using W10 and will definitely upgrade to the final version.
I've now sorted Lightroom, but have found my sound system is inoperative. With regards to the driver problem and Photoshop I'm sure a compromise will be reached with Nvidia and Microsoft. However any wotk I do will be placed on an external drive so that it can be opened in W7. Harry |

Thanks Harry for the advice. I'm heavily diverted by other matters just now so I think I'll just defer the download and see what Microsoft and Nvidia come up with. (Possibly there are other programmes we don't use that are similarly affected by auto updates and this will pile more pressure on M'soft?)

Thanks H. I don't have the Nvidia, so fingers crossed - the magical 29th is almost over, but they predict a graduated roll-out, so patience is the watchword.

As an 'Insider' I recieved it last night. It caused me a few problems, but suprise, suprise the Nvidia driver was not overwritten, so CS6 is running fine.
What was very strange and I've no idea why I had to reload most of my motherboard drivers. USBs were acting up, resulting in my card reader not working, also found there was no sound output, again this was corrected by running my motherboard disk. Now everything appears to be perfect and I must admit to quite liking this new Windows 10. Fingers crossed. Harry |

This article looks like a solution to troublesome drivers updates http://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-...on-windows-10/
