I am posting my POTW for a second week on this occasion as Christine (DigiDiva) has decided to withdraw from WPF and this would have been her week to make a selection.

My choice is Double the Fear by Tom Charles. ![]() A beautiful macro, technically excellent but with a definite twist that makes it unusual and made me look twice. I love the way the reflection is so well blended from the main subject. At first I found it quite difficult to define exactly where the insect is standing. A fine shot. Graham

A lucky escape Tom - The female can give you a nasty bite as I learnt on Sunday standing in a long grass meadow trying to photograph butterflies. Attacked several times with a bite like a bee sting. Noticed the strange colouration of the eyes as with your image and a bit of Googling produces "Twin-lobed Deer-fly".

			Interesting approach to macro.

![]() Thank you too, Trena and Rob for your comments. Rob, I have been made very ill over the years, from being bitten by these flies. A few days before getting this shot, I was bitten on the hand, and thank goodness I had no reaction this time. I relate to your warning with much empathy
