Event photography advice
Last minute worries today! I am doing shots for publicity and fund-raising for my local moutain rescue team on their annual fell race tomorrow. I've spent quite a bit of time preparing - walked the route, found some locations, worked out my timings to get to different spots on the route (about 20k in all - but I'll be taking some short cuts!) and have an idea of how long it will take the runners. I'm waiting for a list of their sponsors, so I can get images of team members/racers with the appropriate stuff in shot at start, finish and feeding/water stations - should have that from them tonight. Another photographer is going to do the roadside locations and starts/finishes as I will be up on the moors mostly.
Kit-wise, 24-105 and 70-200 lenses, main and back-up bodies, spare batteries for both, spare cards, flash with fresh batteries, monopod (it's due to be pretty windy up on the tops); then my own hill kit and safety gear. I will be keeping in touch with race control when I'm on the hill, so they dont have to keep track of me at check points, and can keep me updated with race progress.
I think I've got it covered, but any glaring ommissions from those of you who have done events like this before?
