Default Just a quick question about attachments

When/if I attach a picture to a post, will the forum automatically re-size it for me?

As I can see that every picture on here seems to be the same size, which is much smaller then I know my camera takes them in.

I'm sorry if this could easily be found in a sticky, but I useless at finding my way round a new site

Attachments in posts are added by clicking 'Go Advanced' then uploading the file format relevant. Different file formats have different allowed sizes but they will all appear as a thumbnail at the bottom of any post. Once a user clicks the thumbnail the fullsize image will be displayed.

Thats great, thanks people. If I'm honest I'm still a bit unsure how big my attachment will be, as I have no concept of file size at all.

Would anyone mind if I attach a random photo just to see what size it will be without me having to re-size it?

Just a test I suppose

No worries!

I've been looking at re-sizing them and I believe my camera takes them at a pixel size of W - 4272, H - 2848.

Anyone know is this will swamp the thread? And if so, what size to drop it down to?

I'm sorry for the sudden rush of questions, I'm just eager to enter this weekends mini competition

Maximus, if you could re-size the photos to a max height of H-800 it will be much easier for people to view them and not have to scroll to see all the photo, also no bigger than 200kb.
Make sure you don't save the new size over your originals make a copy first.

Maximus,

Keep your camera set to take the maximum resolution it is capable of. Resize a COPY of the original picture using an image editing program such as Photoshop. Your camera may well have been supplied with a basic image editing program, or failing that, there are plenty of free simple editors available.
