Anyone own this camera? I am looking for something easy to carry, instead of lumping my Nikon D40 around on holiday, but something with a little 'Umph' to it too. I have read a few reviews & they appear to be all pro but I thought some members may own or used this type.

Hi Abigail, I do not have one of these but the reports seem excellent so I would go and try one in the shop before buying - but stick with the D40 as your main photographic tool.

Thanks Andy. Yes I will stick with the D40 but on nights & days out with friends I would not feel comfortable having to haul the D40 around where I could easily 'pocket' the TZ5........I think I will get dad to buy it for himself then help myself with it

Here is a thorough review http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonictz5/ I do agree with Andy to physically handle one first as a general principle.....'' I think I will get dad to buy it for himself then help myself with it '' Poor old Dads always get it from daughters!

Your dad has my sympathy. If I was your dad I might buy the camera but I would keep it for myself and if you were very very lucky you might be able to occasionally borrow one of the old ones!

I'll have to get him up & running to see what it delivers then I will have it & he will get his 7900 back, he was happy with the 7900 he just needs more zoom
