But if they don't already have a photo can't they go out and take one. (And that applies to freestyle aswell.) Surely it makes the competion more interesting if you have to shoot specifically for the competition.

The freestyle competition like others has no time restriction for when the photo was taken. Gallery images already uploaded cannot be entered unless uploaded less then 31 days.
The competition is without theme, therefore no excuse not to enter! This is a chance to enter your best!

A few freestyle comps gets my vote on two fronts.
1) It encourages those members who are new to photography to submit their best shot to date irrespective of subject. 2) To quote Jamie's post #6 [ wheres the fun in competitions, if theres themes left in the tin? ] . To my mind its a bit of an oportunity to let your imagination run wild and in effect bake your own biscuit to your own recipie with no limits. I have seen lots of gallery submissions where the subject, and the photographers interpretation of it, are well suited to the wide brief of ' Freestyle '. Don |
