For ALL Mac Users.
Here is a little program, that will help your Mac fly. I use it once a month. You start in single user mode (Command + "S") during the start up sequence. The rest is self explanatory - you are in UNIX mode and I always use option "a".

I forgot to say this is mainly for Mac OS 10.3 upwards.

Is this really necessary Andy? Apart from having used the Disk Utility to 'repair permissions' and now use Appdelete to remove all the garbage that had been installed by progs I discard, OS10.3 on is meant to do its own clean up and 10.3.9 mostly does.
The only thing I have found is its not a good idea to run NX at the same time as Classic, which I have to do occasionally to use Microstation (3D CAD). I have bookmarked the MacFixit review of AppleJack in case, but normally I prefer to drink AppleJack. |

Hi Chris, I recently transfered my main hard drive to a bigger one, I used "SuperDuper" which is a restore/recovery/clone program and is recommended, particularly if you wish to change a main drive. The resultant replacement was 4.75 Gb smaller than the original. I regularly use, TechTool Pro, Onyx, Cocktail, Disk Utility and other programs to clean up and optimize. The advantage of Applejack is that it works at the basic UNIX level and replaces all the above. Also although the OS is meant to do its own cleaning and repair work - it actually doesn't do a complete job. You will find for one thing that the Virtual Memory Cache is rarely fully cleared out - I think Onyx is the only utility that even attempts it.
Do have a look at Super Duper as well it can be very useful. Here is the LINK: http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDup...scription.html Regards Andy
