See the user reviews section. Useful in my opinion due to the often large number of inputs. |

....if you are using a full frame camera (and have deep pockets) but if you are using camera with a 1.5/1.6 crop factor this only actually gives ~26mm at the widest end. The 10-20/10-22 lens give a true 16mm on a crop sensor camera

For anyone using a Nikon DSLR with a 1.5 crop sensor, the new 10.5mm f/2.8 DX "fisheye" is worth considering. Although the jpeg "on-camera" image is a "fisheye," Nikon Capture, DxO, or Photoshop straighten out the distorted image perfectly with only very minimal edge distortions.
This lens is great for capturing large areas of view (see "Waiting for Summer" in the Rural Landscapes gallery, one of several shots that I took on my first run with the lens yesterday). It captures such a large area of view that one doesn't miss the "convenience" of a zoom wide angle like the Sigma 10-20mm --- just crop to eliminate any unwanted parts of the scene. Down the road I hope get some really unique pictures with this "16mm" lens. It only weighs 10 ounces, so having it in my camera bag isn't a hassel. Last edited by dfahr1; 01-05-08 at 21:29. |

Clive, I was very impressed with the sample shots you posted.
As someone who fancies a wide-angle but has never tried one it would be good to see a couple of shots from the same position with a wide-angle and a std 18-55 Checked out Fred Miranda - way to oin depth and complicated for a simple soul like myself
