Default What Zoom for a d50?

HI

Have had my D50 for a couple of months and have been using the std kit lens until now. I think it time I need to increase my scope and with this in mind some advise would be appriciated.

I mainly take pics in towns, landscapes, sports and family. So I have been considering a 28-200, 70-200 or even a 70-300. I have about £200 to spend what are my choices, recommendations welcome.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris

If he kit lens is the 18-70 then you have your Town Landscapes and Family covered with that one.
Two of the ones you mention as possibles are around your budjet, but the 70-200 is way over. I have used the 70-300 f4.5G and it's a good tool but I needed the speed and went for a 300 prime. The 28-200 is an f3.5 and is a fast lens for the price. Take your D50 with you to your local dealer and ask for a demo useing your camera, take a few pics and see which one suits.

Good Luck with your choice.

I am up grading to a Nikon D50 myself.I cannot make my mind up between the
18-55 lens or the 18-70 Nikon lens. Would anyone like to advise on these lenses.
thanks
Horace

Hi Horace
Nice tool the D50.

I use an 18-70 a great deal and its a super lens - super sweet between f11-f16. and a good all rounder.

I would like to own a 17-55 but it's a bit pricey - that said , its rated as one of the sharpest Nikon lenses.

I would Think as a first lens the 18-70 is favorite if this is going to be your first digital SLR.

Best of luck

Brian

Default D50 zoom lens

thankyou Brian
I think the extra cost of the 18-70 over the 18-55 could well be worth it in the long run. the extra reach and speed is worth considering, although I hear
that the 18-55 lens is also very good.this will be may first experience with Nikon up to now I have used an Olympus C740 and a Canon S2IS super zooms.Prior to that it was a Minolta 7000i 35mm film camera.
