Default Canon Digital Photo Professional 3.0.2

Surprised no-one appears to have mentioned this yet, Canon Digital Photo Professional 3.0.2 Raw image processing software (update) is now available for download.

You can get it from the Canon web site.

I thought of posting a message to this effect at the weekend, but then thought does anyone actually use it now that Lightroom is available.

Admittedly you do have to pay an hell of a lot more for Lightroom (unless it was a freebie) than you would for DPP.

You simply cannot beat the camera manufacturers RAW converter.

I have played with the updated DPP and it seems a lot better than when I last used this software. The RAW conversions appear very noise free.
After using ACR for so long I find the interface on DPP strange.

I used DPP from 2003 up until switching to Rawshooter in 2006 and then to Lightroom early this year. Although I have version 3.0.2 on my pc I still prefere Lightroom which uses the Pixmantic (Rawshooter) engine.

Although I accept there is very little between the DPP & lightroom the tools within Lightroom make it a joy to use.

I downloaded 3.02 yesterday but thought that I would use it for a few days before mentioning it on here.

any difference from 3.0.1 is so subtle I can't see it and the blurb on the download spec seems to be about solving problems I never knew existed

PS maybe the 'revert to original/revert to last edit' option is new, likewise printing option of selection as contact sheet auto sized according to how many.

I've used it now for a few days and don't see anything different from the previous version.
