Default Lens choice for D70?

Hi am thinking of keeping my D70 as a back up camera, and wonder if anyone has any suggestions for a reasonable priced lens for everday shots?

50mm f1.8 is very cheap, used examples approx £60. Its also one of the sharpest Nikkors to be found.

Here is a shot taken with a D70 and the 50mm f1.8 http://www.worldphotographyforum.com...500&ppuser=101

Don't leave home without one!

Thanks Stephen and a great shot! I will definitely have to get one of these.

There are two types D and non-D. I.E. 50mm f1.8D and 50mm f1.8, I have the latter non D version. D stands for distance information and its only required when using flash (TTL/DTTL/iTTL) using a non D version outside should make no difference and the best bit.... a used non D specimen is even cheaper than a D!
