Hi Christine

If the 400 you're talking about is the Canon f5.6, then I think it's a very good lens capable of being used wide open at f5.6 with excellent results. A friend of mine has one and uses it regularly and successfully with a Canon 10D and a 1.4 Canon converter.

Yes,nirofo,that is the lens,the non is version.
